Terry Hildebrand

My artworks are touchstones in the landscape I live in.  Places that make me stop and photograph - curious about the pull of this particular spot.  Sometimes I'll begin painting the image right away, or else it may linger in my mind for quite awhile.  Then the transformative act of painting the scene begins.  This is where the actual painting process has its own language and there is a dialogue between the depicted and the painting of it.  The painting then becomes part of my own vocabulary of place.
